Species text
Although previously recorded from only two vice-counties, and last recorded in 1910 in North Hampshire, this species is not listed in the insect Red Data Book (Shirt 1987). The beetle feeds in fungi and has previously been recorded from chalk downland. Threats are uncertain, although the loss of grassland through improvement by reseeding or by the application of fertilisers, or by conversion to arable agriculture may be threats to this species (Hyman & Parsons, 1994).
